Senior Data Engineer
Join Hoxhunt and build a purposeful product that defends companies from cybercrime, help support the cyber skills training for 4m+ users to make the world more cyber secure - in a human centric way.
Our mission and why it matters
We are on a mission to make humans the strongest security layer in every organization.
As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, human risk remains one of the biggest vulnerabilities and traditional awareness training is not enough. We take a different approach by combining AI driven personalization, real threat detection, and behavioral science to build systems that actively protect people and organizations every day.
We are a rapidly growing multi-product company with six dedicated product teams. We do not just simulate risks. We build the tools that detect and stop them.
Why this role matters
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work at the intersection of data engineering, software development, and site reliability engineering. You will be a key part of our growing group of nearly 30 data professionals, providing highly accurate data for over 4 million end-users and enabling our product teams to succeed.
As our customer base expands rapidly and our product offering grows wider and more complex, the need for scalable and trustworthy data engineering solutions has never been more critical. Your technical skill and building experience will be essential in helping our data infrastructure scale while mentoring a talented team to reach its full potential.
What you’ll own and drive
Build and maintain core data pipeline components, getting hands-on with technologies like Airflow, BigQuery, ClickHouse, and Dataflow.
Lead technical decision-making related to the future development of our data architecture and technology stack.
Ensure the reliability, scalability, and observability of our data pipeline components and tooling.
Manage and operate data pipelines and orchestration tools to guarantee smooth data delivery.
Collaborate through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to continuously raise the engineering bar.
Mentor the team's engineers, taking ownership of projects from idea to execution and acting as a technical lead.
What success looks like
In your first three months, you will get to know our tech stack, identify some current bottlenecks, propose paths forward, and start guiding the team in the right technical direction.
By month six, you will have helped shift the team toward more proactive, scalable building, acting as a technical leader and driving teams' projects to completion.
What makes you thrive here
You have:
5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or software development, with a Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in Python programming and SQL.
Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP), orchestration tools (preferably Airflow / Cloud Composer), and cloud SQL databases (preferably BigQuery).
Proven ability to take ownership, think critically, break down complex problems, and drive projects to completion in an agile environment.
A strong willingness to mentor other engineers, communicate effectively, and collaborate as part of a larger data team.
AI Nativeness: Experience with, or strong interest in learning, how to build software using teams of agents working in parallel. Rather than writing every line of code by hand, you enjoy designing and optimizing the harness that allow agents to work optimally. You think in terms of product, feedback loops, and continuous improvement of the development process itself.
Bonus points if you also:
Have experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ClickHouse, Dataflow, or MongoDB.
Bring Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
Have the willingness and ability to eventually act as a Team Lead with full people responsibility.
Who you’ll work with
You will be joining a team currently consisting of our Team Lead, Jussi, and four talented mid-level data engineers. It's a collaborative, agile group looking for an experienced builder to step in, act as a technical lead, and help strengthen our systems while building exciting new solutions for the future. You will thrive here if you are curious by nature, enjoy working through solutions with others, and care deeply about making a lasting impact.
What you can expect from us
Compensation: Monthly salary of €6000-€7500 depending on your experience.
Working ways: We work in a flexible, hybrid work setting. You are expected to visit the Helsinki office weekly.
High Performance meets High Humanity: We bring an incredibly driven, high-impact energy to our work, but we leave our egos at the door. You will be surrounded by wildly talented, dedicated colleagues in an environment built on extreme kindness, support, and psychological safety.

A Product You Can Be Proud Of: It is incredibly rare in cybersecurity to build a product that end-users genuinely love. You will join a fast-paced, technically sophisticated team making a real, measurable impact against cybercrime.
The Perks That Matter: Alongside this amazing community, you will enjoy a broad package of benefits including extensive healthcare, and our fresh new office in Helsinki (complete with a gym and swimming pool!).
Recruitment Process
We want to get to know you and how you think! Our process includes:
Interview with Talent Acquisition, 30 minutes (remote).
Interview with the Hiring Manager Jussi, 45 minutes (remote).
Technical Assignment and Panel Interview with your future team members. 60-90 minutes (on-site)
Reference checks and final offer.
